We went skiing for spring break. Kieran hit the mountain with speed as it was her second year on the slopes. She can ski fast without falling but hasn't really learned how to stop or turn. We took her on an intermediate run, in hindsight, before she was ready. This is what happened:
She took off down the run, it had a bunch of snow board park jumps. Kieran said she took a couple because she couldn't steer or stop. She came to a fork in the trail and couldn't decide which way to go fast enough so she ended up going right into the middle, over a rock and stopping (crashing) in a grove of trees. It took me a few moments to reach her and I didn't see it happen because I am a slow, controlled skier (born in the year of the monkey).
here she is, on a nice gentle green slope, whizzing by...
OOPS!!!!!
We ride down the rest of the hill in the "bucket" attached to the snowmobile.
They don't think it's broken but splint it up anyway.
"How do I eat with this claw?"
I made Kieran a paper tape and gauze cast upon which she promptly drew a dragon.
I guess her injury is not too severe because she was able to make this really big snowball.
Which she insisted on carrying, even though it got dropped several times.
and finally, I found this little drawing in the notebook that she drew in the day after her tree incident...
sorry, it's much more than cute, of course.....awesome is a much better word!
