Paintings

Kieran has decided to paint for profit. She is willing to sell these canvases and the ones to come. They will range from 15 to 35 dollars each. These two are $25. In her head, she is calculating how many Calico Critters she could buy should a painting sell.

Kieran Skis Like She Draws

I have a theory about Kieran. She was born in the year of the Dragon and I suspect that she really is one. I often say to her, "you are a dragon in a girl skin". She is fiery, feisty, passionate, fearless (at times), big in character and spirit, innocent and soft, mean and brusk and boundless, with great big, scaly wings and a long forked tail.  Kieran has been drawing dragons for a few years now. They are an important part of her life. She makes them real in her work and reminds us that you don't have to see them in the flesh to believe in their existence.
We went skiing for spring break. Kieran hit the mountain with speed as it was her second year on the slopes. She can ski fast without falling but hasn't really learned how to stop or turn. We took her on an intermediate run, in hindsight, before she was ready. This is what happened:
She took off down the run, it had a bunch of snow board park jumps. Kieran said she took a couple because she couldn't steer or stop. She came to a fork in the trail and couldn't decide which way to go fast enough so she ended up going right into the middle, over a rock and stopping (crashing) in a grove of trees. It took me a few moments to reach her and I didn't see it happen because I am a slow, controlled skier (born in the year of the monkey).

here she is, on a nice gentle green slope, whizzing by...

OOPS!!!!!

We ride down the rest of the hill in the "bucket" attached to the snowmobile.

They don't think it's broken but splint it up anyway.

"How do I eat with this claw?"

I made Kieran a paper tape and gauze cast upon which she promptly drew a dragon.

I guess her injury is not too severe because she was able to make this really big snowball.

Which she insisted on carrying, even though it got dropped several times.

and finally, I found this little drawing in the notebook that she drew in the day after her tree incident...

Left on the Table the Next Morning

I found this stack one morning last week. I think she was drawing while watching TV.

My photo
Hi. My name is Kieran Meaney. I have been drawing since I was 3, cartooning since I was 8, and animating since I was 10. My cousins call me Waggytail, ('Tis fun!) and I love the outdoors and creating. I will be the youngest person without a Facebook in my grade and I likes bugs. X3
